Hamina’s Vimpa Islands are one of the most popular group travel destinations in our region and a real paradise for those looking for a genuine nature experience. There are chickens and sheep roaming around, the island flora is rich and the facilities are versatile and open for all kinds of experiences. The old houses along the cobbled streets of Hamina tell their fascinating story about the time when the town was full of cosmopolitans, merchants and officers, where many languages and cultures crossed paths. In the heart of this unique circular town you can find a rare sight in Finland, a stunning Rococo-style house, where, as rumor has it, soldiers were once hidden in the basement. Also be sure to visit the magnificent round temple, allegedly designed by the architect Louis Visconti.
Hamina is also well known for its world-class events. In the summer 2022 Hamina will host a range of events, such as Hamina Tattoo military music festival, Horses in Bastion festival, as well as an exhibition of Tove Jansson’s paintings and drawings. Stay at the SpaHotel Hamina and organize your own event in the legendary Hamina Bastion.
The Salpa Line area near the south-eastern border offers endless opportunities for outdoor activities.
